I didn’t actually intend to fall off the radar so completely for so long. Alas, life happened, and I did.
First, my health took a turn for the worse. Nothing oxalate-related, just a long, nasty battle with a nasty new set of symptoms. The good news is that I have battled back the bad guys and I’m finally getting back to where I can be functional most of the day, every day. I still suspect I have some underlying issue (chronic fatigue or lyme), but until I can get health insurance, there’s no way I can afford all the tests to actually get diagnosed. So I muddle along, using supplements to cope with symptoms, and doing a pretty good job of it if I do say so myself!
Then, my housing situation became untenable. Because I’ve been physically incapable of holding a “real job” for so long, I’m having to sell and move out of my home, and into a more affordable situation. This is requiring a massive downsizing, as well as quite a bit of fixer-uppering on both the old and new residences. That’s in addition to all the packing and fun of trying to fit the contents of a proper house into a mobile home! So that is where pretty much all of my time is going right now, and why I haven’t posted in the week or so that I’ve been feeling better.
Finally, some good news: I’m getting married! My longtime sweetie (Dave the Yeti) and I are going to tie the knot this month. No wedding or anything (don’t need THAT stress on top of everything else!), just a quick ceremony by the Clerk of Court, much as my own parents did it back in the day. I’m very happy we are finally making it official.
So I’m sorry to say I am not sure when I’ll be able to get back to a regular posting schedule, but I would guess it will be at least a month, maybe even two, depending on how long it takes my house to sell. Rest assured I am still thinking of you, and reading messages on the TLO group, and constantly jotting down notes about what topics I should blog about once I get back in the saddle. As always, if you have any topics you’d like me to cover, feel free to leave a comment below. While I probably won’t be as quick getting to them as I normally would, I will definitely put them on my list to tackle once I get rolling again.
Last but not least: I didn’t want to have to do this, but circumstances are such right now that I’m counting every penny. Thus I have added an Amazon search box in the sidebar to try to allow OxVox to support itself and stay online. If you have been helped at all by the articles on this site, I would take it as a personal favor if you start your next Amazon shopping trip in that search box. It won’t raise the prices you pay by a penny, and yet Amazon will credit me a small percentage of the purchase amount. It’s a win-win, especially if you love Amazon’s low prices and great selection!
Thank you so much for hanging with me, and I promise to get back to posting as soon as this rough patch is over!
